Suggestions

Suggestions for Church Leaders

  1. Solicit and encourage active involvement from Women’s fellowships, Youth, Sunday Schools, Men’s Fellowships, Senior Citizens, Prayer Fellowships, Cell Groups, etc. in your churches.
  2. 24-hour fellowships in churches with time slots given to each fellowship, project ministry or group to encourage participation by each.
  3. Encourage those who are not able to come to the church to participate in the program to pray at home as families or small groups, or even individually. Encourage them to give feedback to their pastor or church office.
  4. Involve all Schools, Colleges, Hospitals, Orphanages, Missionaries and Evangelists belonging to your denomination/ under your purview.
  5. Include ‘Revival’ as a topic for sermons, messages, discussions, etc, to increase awareness and interest well before the Day of Prayer. Pinpoint Pastors and leaders who already have a burden to pray for revival and ask them to do the same.
  6. Letters, Prayer Guide and brochures to be distributed among all Pastors with instructions to make them available to all members of their congregation to pass them on to their interested friends to involve them. Announcements in churches to inform the congregation how their church proposes to observe this Day, and encourage them to participate.
  7. Translate the Letter and Prayer list in relevant local languages.
  8. Articles and messages to be published in Christian magazines, church newsletters, etc. to increase awareness about revival and the Day of Prayer, and people encouraged to participate as individuals, families, groups, staff, etc. on July 14th. Letter and Prayer list to be published also, with instructions to copy and pass it on freely to interested individuals or organizations of every Christian denomination.
  9. Pinpoint people with a burden for Revival as well as good organizational skills and give them the responsibility to organize large prayer meetings, combining churches in that area. Each church in the area may be given responsibility for a part of the program to encourage active participation.
  10. Carry Brochures, letter & list to Seminars, Retreats, meetings, etc., where there is opportunity to meet pastors and leaders of other denominations and encourage them to get involved. Message about DPRI must reach every denomination and reach every corner of India.
  11. All Pastors to be required to give feedback to the denominational headquarters after the event on how the members of their church participated in the Day of Prayer on July 14th. (Knowing that they have to do this may encourage them to take it seriously).
  12. Officially inform churches of your denomination in other parts of India and encourage them to participate actively.
  13. Contacts abroad to be informed and involved also, so this effort is a worldwide effort to pray for Revival in India.
  14. Code of conduct to be encouraged, e.g. do not create unnecessary disturbance to neighbors, keep noise levels within limits, obey local laws and rules, do not indulge in conduct and speeches that are likely to create antagonism for Christians, be sensitive to denominational differences and keep to universally accepted norms in a common forum, etc.
  15. All feedback to be processed and published in your newsletters/magazines to encourage all members. Inform people that this will be an annual feature and encourage them to plan to participate more widely next year.
